WHO International public health symposium on environment and health research

The WHO International public health symposium on environment and health research was opened by Mr José Manuel Silva Rodriquez, Director general, EC, DG Research, Dr Christina Garmendia Mendiza´bal, Minister of Science and Innovation and Dr Marc Danzon, Regional director, WHO Regional Office for Europe. They spoke about the necessity to identify priority in environmental health. Together with the effects from climate change, dangerous substances in our environment and chemical security were mentioned as the major emerging risk for human health today.

Since human health and the planet's health are highly related, the relationship between environmental problems and health problems should be given a more collaborative approach. According to the speakers, sustainable environmental policies are therefore necessary.

During the meeting, CASCADE Vice coordinator Ingemar Pongratz gave a presentation of the research work of CASCADE. He also presented a poster about CASCADE Research achievements. Download the poster in A4 size (pfd).
