New review about EDCs' involvement in metabolic disorders
Last year, CASCADE was invited to do a review on endocrine disruptive chemicals (EDCs) and nuclear receptors.
The work ended up with a review article on endocrine disruptors' effect, via nuclear receptors, on metabolic disorders. This review highlights the accumulating data on the potential involvement of EDCs in metabolic disorders, with focus on the molecular mechanism of EDCs action:
- There are several evidences that endocrine disruptive chemicals might actually cause metabolic problems, says Elin Swedenborg, one of the authors.
Although the focus of the review is the underlying molecular mechanisms of EDCs, the authors emphasize the great need for data that can unite the mechanistic and the epidemiological observations of EDCs and metabolic disorders.
