Welcome to CASCADE Annual Meeting 2007

  CASCADE third Annual Meeting on April 17-19, 2007, will take place at Biomedicum in Helsinki, Finland and our host is Professor Olli Jänne from Helsingin Yliopisto (Helsinki University).  The Welcome Reception on Monday, April 16, 19.00-22.00, will also take place at Biomedicum.

Scientific results from CASCADE partners will be presented and the results of other CASCADE activities (Risk Assessment, Integration, Education and Dissemination) will be presented and discussed.
 
Presentations and posters sessions will give the opportunity for all members to participate in discussions and contribute to the planning of future CASCADE activities.
 
This meeting will also serve as a review meeting for CASCADE where the focus will be on major achievements and plans for CASCADE future activities.
 

Open Forum

In connection to this Annual Meeting will we organise an Open Forum, entitled REACH in reality with invited speakers from different stakeholders that are affected by the new European chemicals legislation. Open Forum is included in the schedule and when registring for the Annual Meeting you do not have to register separately for this session. Junior Scientists Session for PhD students and postdocs

The Junior Scientists Session is a dedicated forum for junior scientists in CASCADE. The session will include a workshop in presentation skills, career planning, networking and informal discussions. The programme for the Junior Scientists Session is available here.
 

Short talks

Junior scientists are invited to give short talks (10 min) to present their research and discuss it with all participants at the Annual Meeting. Please send an abstract of your talk (0.5-1 page) to cascade@biosci.ki.se by March 15. After review of the received abstracts, selected speakers will be notified via email in good time before the meeting. 
 

Poster session

Prizes will be awarded to the best poster overall and the poster that best underlines the importance of considering gender issues in research. Please submit your poster abstract (0.5-1 page long) to cascade@biosci.ki.se by March 15 for inclusion in the Annual Meeting Abstract Book that will be available during the meeting and published online after the meeting.

Important notice for CASCADE partners

Please, note that all group leaders have to attend the CASCADE Annual Meeting, a requirement made by the Commission and reviewers.
 
In addition, all partners need to have at least one representative at the CASCADE Partner Steering Committee Meeting. Additional people from the CASCADE research groups are most welcome to attend the meeting.
 

Reimbursement for junior scientists

To encourage junior scientists to participate in the Annual Meeting, CASCADE will reimburse accommodation cost for junior scientists. Maximum reimbursement is 165 euro/person, which, for example, corresponds to a shared double room at Scandic Continental. Please make your own hotel reservations, for a list of suggested hotels click here. Registered participants will receive information on how to receive the reimbursement.
 

Practical information

CASCADE will cover the cost for welcome reception (evening of April 16), lunches and organised dinner for all registered participants.
 
All participants are responsible to make their own reservations and cover for travel and accommodation expenses. CASCADE will reimburse accommodation cost for junior scientists (PhD students and postdocs) only, see policy above. Travelling costs will not be covered.
 
Please note that the meeting starts in the morning of April 17 and that there is a welcome reception in the evening of April 16 at Biomedicum.
 
As Helsinki is a relatively small city with limited possibilities for accommodation we recommend you to reserve hotel room as soon as possible.
